In his video, the photographer shares many different examples of his work in which he shows the effect of certain camera settings in portrait photography . He often photographs here with his Nikon D850 with his Nikon 105mm lens with an aperture value of f / 1.4. “A general rule I’d like to emphasize is that your shutter speed should be twice as long as your focal length.” The shutter speed can of course be slower, but that is the minimum shutter speed you should use. Furthermore, the photographer finds it important that you work with a minimum value for ISO, then the camera generally performs at its best.
‘If you want sharp photos, it is good to know that a photo is often sharp if you use an aperture that is two to three stops higher than the maximum aperture. If you are somewhere between f / 6 and f / 11, you are good with most cameras, ‘says the photographer. “It may be that you want to use a different aperture, because of the effect you get. I often use f / 1.4. ‘

For the exposure, the photographer gives the tip that it is best to look at your histogram. Make sure that the line ends higher at the end, but that you make sure that the end of the line is also visible. If it is cut, your image is overexposed.
